      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

      Who leads the workshop?
There is no official workshop. Teachers or art teachers can integrate the lesson of creating (writing and/or illustrating) a book into their curriculum throughout the school year.

What can the book be about?
Your book can be about just about anything. At the moment, Kiba Kiba does not publish books of religious nature, or with any kind of violent or inappropriate artwork. Suggested themes include: nature and the environment (fish, trees, birds, wild animals, mountains, water, etc.), global connections, STEM, creative arts. You can have your students write stories - fictional creative writing, poems or have separate thoughts on each page.

What will my students learn from this?
While writing a story and illustrating pages for the book, students will directly learn about book illustration and creative writing and indirectly learn whatever the book is about: science, language arts, creative writing, English, and the arts.

      What are the curriculum tie-ins?

Art Principals: the art of collage, fabric arts, drawing and design, book illustration, balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, rhythm, unity.
Art Elements line, color, shape, value, form, texture, and space. They can learn to create contrast with cool and warm colors, light and dark colors, and use complementary colors.

      Collaboration and inspiration:
Students can work in a group and see the bigger picture of the entire book, but work independently to illustrate their own page. The illustration workshop focuses on freedom of expression and creativity.

      What is the process?
Here are instructions on how to create your book. Students should be given time and space to “create anything” with a given set of materials, around a given theme/story. At the end of this creativity session students will have used their right brains to create something original and unique.

      Why should I participate?
Do you believe:-in the power of creative thinking to spur and spark ingenuity and inventiveness.
-that the creative process plays a role in math, science and technology.
-that the ability to think creatively and outside the box is a critical component of innovation.
-children should have the opportunity to develop self-confidence, discover who they are and be unique and original just like their artwork.
-that stories and books can spark endless wonder and curiosity, teach the creative process and become the building blocks for success.
-that creative thought and expression is a vital tool for the children of today to become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
-in the power of the creative arts to impact a child’s life in ways that might not be measurable and exact.

If yes, then please contact Kiba Kiba to organize a project!
